Each season I like to take a look at what my favorite menswear shop, Spier & Mackay, has coming. It’s always an exciting time as they only do two main release cycles per year, one in fall and one in spring. I usually have a running list of items I would like to see released in hopes they show up for sale. Let me jump right into some of the items I already picked up and a few I love but are still on the fence about. I am sure there is still much more to come after the time of this post so I will try and update to keep it concise.

After waiting for quite a few sportcoats to be released I finally caved and picked up this incredible looking EThomas navy hopsack in a blend of wool, silk, linen, and cashmere. Typically I am not drawn to hopsack jackets as they always looked like orphaned suit jackets in my eyes. However this one has some color variation and isn’t quite as dark as other navy hopsacks. It seemed like the perfect version for me to give a try.
Next up is one that I really had a hard time passing on as it might be the best of the season so far. Spier & Mackay is using a lot of cloth from Sondrio again this spring and for good reason, they do an incredible job and the perfect example is this 100% linen brown glen check. I ended up passing as I have something very similar from last year, as shown below. It’s one of my most worn jackets to date and very versatile. If you are looking for something similar, don’t sleep on the Sondrio version this year.
Spier & Mackay has been consistently putting out wonderful summer casual shirting year after year and this year has been no exception. A wide variety of denim, madras, linen, and polo options have already hit the site. The image shows the ones I recently placed an order for. I am most excited about the wide stripe linens as they were supposed to drop last year but never did. It was a pleasant surprise to see them hit the site this year. Have a look at all of the new shirts HERE, and all of the new polos HERE.
For the traditional navy hopsack lovers, Spier & Mackay finally dropped lots of stock in a staple version that didn’t sell out instantly. Sure to be a pick up for a lot of guys this season. Available in both the 3-2 roll Neapolitan cut version, and the standard cut version.
Spier & Mackay Trousers
I have not tried them out yet but new this year is some very affordable 100% cotton trousers. Available in 12 colors for only $78 CAD. What I think is great about these vs their chinos is that they are made up in the same cut as their main line of dress trousers. I’ll have to grab a pair to see what the cloth like is in person, for the price they will be hard to beat. Here’s a few of my top color picks.
